27th-28th July I attended an introduction to stone course held at The Learning Connexion in Taita, New Zealand. The stone is Greywacke. It fits in my palm nicely and resembles a beetle. I still need to clean up work to do and then I will polish selected areas to add contrast to the overall design. The tutor was Stephen Myhre and you can view some of his work through my links.

Low times
I'm finding it difficult to get motivated lately. Life is moving slowly. I placed some of my bone carvings on trade me and no sales. It can become quite depressing after a while. I do find that when I begin on a downward spiral, for some reason something happens to me that helps rebuild how I begin to look at things. This time it was a bone carving that a friend purchased for his daughters 18th birthday. For me it was about the sale. Showing me that I can carve.

CorelDRAW X6
I had my first play with CorelDraw last night. I worked on a logo for Artistic Solutions Trust. I still have to create a few more informal samples and then create a formal logo for the business side of life.

Maori Carving
Although progress is slow you can begin to see the carving come to life. Still a long way to go I want to be patient and focus on craftsmanship. I'm still a bit unsure where I want to take this but I'm sure it will come to me.
