Yesterday I bought some 2000 grit wet and dry sandpaper for the cows horn. I still need to make a curved flexible object so I can wrap sandpaper around it to sand in the grooves. From there I can polish the carving and begin working out how to add some wooden end pieces with Maori design on them before mounting on a Totara base.

Portrait
I have finished the painting of my Father, sister and myself. My father is happy with the painting and it has opened my eyes as to my style. I still have a long way to go but this is my own style. I also enjoy the fact of using o vibrant colours. I can get used to this and I find this style not so stressful. I hope you like it too?

Latest update
So...... I've been working on a few different pieces of art over the last week which I hope to post here soon. The cows horn is almost at the sanding stage and from there it just needs a polish.
I've started working on the abstract flower again and I have just finished a painting of my Father, sister and myself in my unique style. Tony(my Dad) is coming to visit tomorrow so I can give it to him then.
I've also purchased some items for stone sculpture and am looking forward to using those. I will keep you updated.

2 day stone introduction course
27th-28th July I attended an introduction to stone course held at The Learning Connexion in Taita, New Zealand. The stone is Greywacke. It fits in my palm nicely and resembles a beetle. I still need to clean up work to do and then I will polish selected areas to add contrast to the overall design. The tutor was Stephen Myhre and you can view some of his work through my links.

Low times
I'm finding it difficult to get motivated lately. Life is moving slowly. I placed some of my bone carvings on trade me and no sales. It can become quite depressing after a while. I do find that when I begin on a downward spiral, for some reason something happens to me that helps rebuild how I begin to look at things. This time it was a bone carving that a friend purchased for his daughters 18th birthday. For me it was about the sale. Showing me that I can carve.
